Radiation Protection
Back to Home
The risks from ionising radiation must be considered along side all the other risks that we encounter at work, at home and in the environment. This provides a starting point from which we can all make objective decisions about the risk. I do however recognise that because of the history of the weapons programme and the fact that we can not directly sense ionising radiation people may have an inherent dread of ionsising radiation. Societal factors are also now being recognised as pivotal to any decision that involves ionising radiation. Methods and tools are now being developed to address how we as a society make decisions that address these societal factors. These pages include information on risk communication, stakeholder engagement and environmental harm, all issues which I am currently involved in through my work at national and international levels
